Baker Ventures Studio › Foldbook
Two pages at once, on a phone.
Foldbook is a reading layout rather than a bookstore. It puts two pages on screen with a gutter down the middle, the way an open book sits, and gives you night, day and sepia to read it in.
Foldbook · an app by Baker Ventures LLC · free, no account
Read this first, so the App Store page does not surprise you. Foldbook cannot open your own files. There is no EPUB, PDF or comic support and no import button. It reads the three short original stories built into the app, and that is all it reads. If you came looking for somewhere to put the books you already own, this is not that app, and we would rather tell you here than have you find out after installing.
What it does
A two-page spread. Two pages on screen at once with a thin gutter between them, stacked in portrait and side by side in landscape, turning two pages at a time.
Turn the page by tapping it.Tap the first page to go back, the second to go forward, or use the labelled Prev and Next controls with the page count between them.
Three themes.Night, day and sepia, one button cycling between them.
Text size that goes far enough to matter.Thirteen to twenty-eight point, in steps of two.
Bookmarks and your place.Star any page and jump back to it from the header. Each story keeps its own reading position, bookmarks, theme and text size, stored on the device.
What is in the library
Three short original pieces, written for the app, thirteen pages between them. They are not real published titles and they are not samples of anything you can buy. They exist so the reader has text in it the moment you open it, and so there was no question of shipping someone else's book.
They are short. If you are judging the app, judge the reading layout, the themes and the type size, because that is what Foldbook is.
Privacy, in one line
Foldbook asks for no permissions at all, so you will see no prompt on first launch, and it makes no network requests, so there is nothing for it to send. Your place in each story, your bookmarks and your display settings stay on the device. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
