IOLTAlign Support

IOLTAlign walks a solo or small-firm attorney through a clean three-way reconciliation — bank, book, and client ledgers agreeing to the penny — as often as you choose to run one.
Please note. IOLTAlign is a calculator and record-keeping tool. It is not legal or accounting advice, and it never states that your account is compliant with any jurisdiction's rule — it reports whether your three balances tie out, and if not, where they don't. Trust-accounting rules vary by state and compliance remains your professional responsibility; your state bar's rules are the authority, and a mismatch you can't explain is worth reviewing with your bar's resources or an accountant. IOLTAlign does not move, hold, or transfer money. Review your own duty of confidentiality before entering client details.
Frequently asked questions
- What is three-way reconciliation?
- Comparing three totals that should all match: your adjusted bank balance, your book/register balance, and the sum of every client's ledger. IOLTAlign shows all three and names any discrepancy.
- Is this legal or accounting advice?
- No. It's a calculator and record-keeping tool. It never states your account is compliant with any jurisdiction's rule — it reports whether your numbers tie, and if not, where they don't. Your state bar's trust rules are the authority.
- Does IOLTAlign move or hold money?
- No. It records transactions you enter. It never touches an actual bank account or transfers funds.
- How does it handle outstanding checks and deposits in transit?
- You enter your bank statement's ending balance; IOLTAlign adjusts for outstanding items to produce the adjusted bank balance it compares against your books.
- Why was my disbursement refused?
- It would have driven that client's ledger below zero — one client's funds covering another's. That's blocked at entry by design.
- Where is my client data stored?
- On your device only. No account, no cloud. Your client names, ledgers, and balances never leave your phone and we have no way to see them. Deleting the app deletes the data — export first if you need a record.
- Can I track more than one trust account?
- Yes — that's free right now. Each account keeps its own client ledgers and reconciliation history.
- How often should I reconcile?
- Your jurisdiction's rule decides that, and the rules vary. Many firms reconcile monthly as a matter of practice. We checked Utah's own published rule and it states no frequency at all, so do not take a number from us. Read your own rule. IOLTAlign can schedule a monthly reminder if you want one.
- Can I import transactions from my bank?
- Not right now — IOLTAlign is a manual, on-device tool, so you enter transactions yourself. That's part of how your data stays entirely on your phone. Import is on the list to weigh; for now, entering as you go tends to catch discrepancies earlier anyway.
- What's in the exported report?
- The period, all three balances, the discrepancy breakdown, and per-client balances — formatted to share or file.
- I found a discrepancy I can't explain.
- IOLTAlign shows where the numbers diverge, not why. Review the transactions in that client's ledger against your bank statement; the cause is usually a missing or mis-tagged entry. If you think the app's math itself is off, send us a small example of the numbers and we'll check it.
- Is there anything to buy, cancel, or refund?
- No. IOLTAlign is free right now — no subscription, no in-app purchase, no paywall — so there is nothing to restore, cancel, or get a refund on. A Pro tier is planned but not yet built; if it ships, this page will describe real cancellation, refund, and restore steps first.
- Something's broken. How do I report it?
- Email us with: (1) your device and OS version, (2) what you were doing, (3) what you expected versus what happened, and (4) a screenshot with anything sensitive blurred. That usually points us straight at it.
