NoticeGuard turns a job's dates into a countdown for each statutory step — preliminary notice, notice of intent, lien filing — and shows you the section of the code and the verbatim text each date was read from, so you can check it.
Please note. NoticeGuard is an organizing, calculating, and reminder tool — not a law firm — and it does not provide legal advice. It reports what the statute says; it does not tell you what to do and it does not file anything on your behalf. Lien law is complex and state-specific, and statutory periods have exceptions for holidays, weekends, and disputed first-work dates. Treat every date the app shows as a working estimate, and confirm anything you rely on with a construction attorney in your state before you act on it.
Frequently asked questions
- Where do the deadlines come from?
- Each is computed from your state's current mechanics-lien statute. Every deadline card shows the section number, quoted text, and the source URL it came from.
- Is NoticeGuard legal advice?
- No. It's a calculator and reference tool. It reports what the statute says; it doesn't tell you what to do or file anything on your behalf. Confirm anything critical with an attorney.
- Why does a deadline say “missing information”?
- That deadline depends on a date you haven't entered yet. Rather than show a number that could be wrong, NoticeGuard tells you what it needs.
- Which states are covered?
- All 50 states plus the District of Columbia, each modeled from that state's own lien statute with the citation it's based on.
- Do you keep my job data?
- No account, no server. Every job stays on your device. If you delete the app, the data goes with it.
- Can I get reminders?
- Yes — reminders are free right now and schedule local notifications ahead of each deadline. They run on your device and need notification permission. If one didn't fire, check that Settings › Notifications › NoticeGuard is allowed and that the job has a start/anchor date entered — the app can't count from a date it doesn't have.
- Is anything in NoticeGuard paid?
- No, not right now. Computed deadlines, reminders, statutory-form document generation, calendar export, and unlimited jobs are all free and included. If a paid tier is ever added, this page will be updated first.
- The generated document has blanks — is that a bug?
- No. Anything the statute doesn't let us fill from your entered dates is left as a clear [FILL IN] blank, on purpose. We never guess a legal value.
- A deadline looks wrong for my situation.
- Statutes have exceptions NoticeGuard may not model for an edge case, and real deadlines can turn on details the app doesn't know — your contract type, notices sent, project and role. Read the cited section, confirm with a construction attorney in your state, and if it still looks off, email us the state, role, and dates and we'll re-check our rule against the statute.
- Is there anything to buy, cancel, or refund?
- No. NoticeGuard is free right now — no subscription, no in-app purchase, no paywall — so there is nothing to restore, cancel, or get a refund on. If a paid tier is ever added, this page will describe real cancellation, refund, and restore steps first.
- Something's broken. How do I report it?
- Email us with: (1) your device and OS version, (2) what you were doing, (3) what you expected versus what happened, and (4) a screenshot with anything sensitive blurred. That usually points us straight at it.
