2 deadlines NoticeGuard models for Alabama: what each one counts from, the statute it was read from, and the statute text.
Information, not legal advice. This app reports what the statute says and cites the section it read. It is not legal advice, it does not file anything for you, and it does not tell you what to do.
Verify with the statute or an attorney. Statutes change, and courts reinterpret them. Every deadline in this app comes from a statute read on the date shown next to its citation - that snapshot can go out of date. Missing a mechanics lien deadline can extinguish your claim permanently, so confirm any deadline you are relying on with an attorney licensed in that state before you act on it.
Data verified: statute text retrieved 2026-09-21 (each citation below carries its own date). Rule data from the NoticeGuard app, source commit 22f9300.
File verified statement of lien (original contractor)
Filed in the office of the judge of probate, counted from this claimant's own last item of work, labor, or material furnished.
What it counts from. 180 days after last furnishing (last day on site).
Applies to. Original contractor.
Code of Alabama § 35-11-215 (sole operative sentence) Official source · statute text retrieved 2026-09-21
“The lien declared in this division shall be deemed lost unless the statement referred to in Section 35-11-213 shall be filed by every original contractor within six months and by every journeyman and day laborer within 30 days, and by every other person entitled to such lien within four months, after the last item of work or labor has been performed or the last item of any material, fixture, engine, boiler, or machinery has been furnished for any building or improvement on land or for repairing, altering, or beautifying the same under or by virtue of any contract with the owner or proprietor thereof, or his agent, architect, trustee, contractor, or subcontractor.”
If the date is missed (the statute's own terms). The statute's own mechanism: "The lien declared in this division shall be deemed lost" unless filed within the stated period.
Also stated next to this deadline.
Approximated as 180 calendar days (6 months), the same approximation style used throughout this app.
The verified statement's required content (§ 35-11-213): the amount of the demand after just credits, a description of the property sufficient to locate/identify it (a house number, street, and city/town is sufficient in a city or town), and the owner's name - an error in the amount or the owner's name does not itself defeat the lien.
File verified statement of lien (subcontractor, supplier, or preconstruction service provider)
Filed in the office of the judge of probate, counted from this claimant's own last item of work, labor, or material furnished.
What it counts from. 120 days after last furnishing (last day on site).
Applies to. Subcontractor, Supplier, Preconstruction service.

Approximated as 120 calendar days (4 months × 30), the same approximation style used throughout this app.
Every person "except the original contractor" must also give the owner written notice of the lien claimed, with the amount and what it is owing for, before filing this statement (§ 35-11-218) - a real ordering requirement this app does not compute a separate due date for (see this state's "Honest limits").
Weekend and holiday rollover
NoticeGuard does not model a weekend or holiday extension for Alabama. The dates above are the plain count from the date you enter. Check whether a Saturday, Sunday or holiday changes your date.
What this rule set does not cover
The enforcement/foreclosure deadline is NOT modeled. § 35-11-221 gives 6 months, but counted from "the maturity of the entire indebtedness secured thereby" - a contract/payment-terms concept, not last furnishing. Secondary sources assume the two are ordinarily the same date, but no primary statutory text or case citation confirming that equivalence was found. This app will not silently substitute lastFurnishing for a different legal concept the statute itself distinguishes.
No preliminary/pre-lien notice is modeled. § 35-11-210's advance price notice is optional and not a lien-perfection prerequisite (it only raises a materialman's lien cap to the full specified price); § 35-11-218's notice of lien claimed (everyone but the original contractor) has no independent day count - it is an ordering rule ("before filing" the § 35-11-215 statement), not an N-days-from-an-anchor deadline this app's engine can express.
Weekend/holiday rollover is NOT modeled - deliberately, not by oversight. Code of Alabama § 1-1-4 states a general weekend/holiday extension for "any act... provided by law to be done," which by its own broad language would appear to reach Title 35 Chapter 11's deadlines, but no Alabama appellate case confirming that application to this chapter specifically was found. The same honest gap as every other state in this app carrying this caveat.
The journeyman/day laborer 30-day filing variant (§ 35-11-215) is not modeled as a separate role - this app's closed `Role` union has no "laborer" category distinct from the four roles it already tracks.
Only §§ 35-11-210, 35-11-213, 35-11-215, 35-11-218, and 35-11-221 have been read. The rest of Division 8 - including § 35-11-219 (list of materialmen/laborers/employees) - has not been incorporated.
NoticeGuard is an app that turns a job's dates into a countdown for each statutory step, shows the statute text each date was read from, exports a calendar file (.ics) and sends reminders 14, 7 and 1 day before each deadline. It tracks and reminds; it does not file anything for you.
